Simple yoga tips from Fitness Belfast for those juggling working from home and looking after kids
"We’re all juggling work, caring for kids, caring for parents, neighbours in lockdown, but that’s exactly why it’s a great time to give yoga a try."
The latest in our Learn A New Skill series is one that you’ll definitely have heard mentioned about a lot during lockdown. We’re talking, of course, about yoga.
Exploding in popularity in the last few years, yoga classes still have a bit of an image problem, with many thinking that, while it has benefits, it’s just too spiritual, too bendy, too wishy washy... or just not for them.
To take away all those doubts, we've recruited Gary Milligan, founder of the Fitness Belfast Studio - a unique fitness & yoga space at the Gasworks area of the city - to take you through a few basic yoga tips to help you get started on your yoga journey.
As a Personal Trainer, TRX Instructor & Corporate Wellness Leader, as well as an Award Winning Yoga Teacher, Gary is trying to bust yoga myths and introduce everyone all to the benefits of the mat.
He also believes that lockdown is the perfect time to start yoga.
Speaking to Belfast Live, Gary said: “We’re all juggling work, caring for kids, caring for parents, neighbours in lockdown, but that’s exactly why it’s a great time to give yoga a try.
"You can build your confidence in the comfort of your own home, free of the judgement of others, and you can even do it in your pyjamas!"
He’s created this short ‘Lockdown Yoga for Newbies’ guide as the perfect place to start.
