Recognising Excellence with Work Well Live Well and Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke
A big thank you to Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke for inviting me to speak and host a Chair Yoga session, as part of last weeks Recognition Event for local workplaces involved in the Work Well Live Well programme at The Rabbit Hotel.
Funded by the Public Health Agency (PHA) and delivered by NICHS, the WWLW programme helps local workplaces to improve the health and wellbeing of their employees through personalised support, analysing the results of a health & wellbeing survey to determine health priorities and subsequently developing a bespoke, 3-year health action plan.
Workplaces from across Northern Ireland – including NI Blood Transfusion Service, Ulster GAA, Rathcoole Primary School, Harvey Group and Orchardville – came together for the event on 7 December 2022 to celebrate their commitment to improving employee health and wellbeing with stories of cold water dips, veggie Mondays, abseiling, mental health training and more!
As you know by now, I’m a passionate advocate of wellness at work, particularly the many benefits of taking time out - at our desk, or away from the desk - to move more during the working day.
My interactive hands-in-the-air-like-you-just-do-care chair based yoga & movement session was designed to highlight how short, regular movement at work can:
Improve cognitive function through better work/movement balance
Promote better posture & reduce low back pain
Can increase feelings of emotional wellbeing
Promote better quality sleep
Everyone on their feet and lots of smiling faces, safe to say the session went down great with the participants, and I had some lovely feedback!
I’m loving working with the NICHS team on some great events and initiatives, and looking forward to working together again soon :)
