The Coco B Ware & The Honey Muncher! My "almost guilt free" post workout energy balls.

Just last week I was tasked with rallying the troops at the Club Vitae open day by getting folk interested in joining, sharing some healthy eating & lifestyle advice & maybe even selling a few spaces at Kickstart Bootcamp. I figured what better way to entice people over to chat to me than the lure of free "almost guilt free snacks" & IT WORKED.

I should be clear before we start that in my opinion the word guilt free gets thrown about a lot these days, even by me & to the untrained eye it really can prove misleading. Thats why I'm cutting down on its use and will prefer to call these treats "almost guilt free" as in my opinion they are stacked full of quality ingredients, contain ample amounts of protein, healthy fats and slower release carbohydrate & are therefore a much better option than your average store bought lunchtime treat. They do however pack a caloric punch so its best you "enjoy responsibly" just as you would any other treat. Simple 👱🏻

My personal fave "The Coco B Ware" went down a storm at the open day & so I shall start with how to make those.

The Coco B Ware

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup raw cashews
  • 1 1/2 cup pitted dates (soak in water for 1hour)
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 1-2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
  • 2- 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1-2 tablespoons agave nectar

How to:

1) Pop the cashews in food processor & blitz until powder like consistency, remove & place in large mixing bowl.

2) Chuck the dates (remove water) & coconut oil in the processor & blitz until a thick paste is formed, remove & place in the mixing bowl.

3) Add all other ingredients to mixing bowl, mix together by hand & roll into compact ball shapes.

4) Pop in fridge for 30minutes, remove & enjoy!

The Honey Muncher

Now onto "The Honey Muncher" which due to the demand I never got to taste but I heard they were 👌

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup of oats
  • 1 1/2 cup of pitted dates (soaked in water for 1 hour)
  • 1/2 cup of pumpkin seeds
  • 1/2 cup of almonds
  • 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of Manuka honey

How to:

1) Pop the oats, seeds & nuts in food processor, blitz until slightly nutty powder like consistency, remove and place in large mixing bowl.

2) Chuck the dates (remove water) & coconut oil in the processor & blitz until a thick paste is formed, remove & place in the mixing bowl.

3) Add all other ingredients to mixing bowl, mix together by hand & roll into compact ball shapes.

4) Pop in fridge for 30minutes, remove & enjoy

Depending on the size you prefer, both mixtures should make around 8-10 balls & for those wondering, "The Coco B Ware" treats are naturally gluten free & vegan friendly & "The Honey Muncher" are easily adapted to suit both categories also, simply use gluten free oats & agave instead of honey when mixing.

Enjoy!

A happy chap lucky enough to grab a sample at the open day.
